Shernaron This is the home of the Gryphies. A large group of Gryphies living together is called a gathering. Gatherings live all over the territory of Shernaron, which is a beautiful place with a vast forest, cliffs near the sea and high mountains. There are even Gryphies living high above the clouds, the Sky Gryphies.
The Gyphie Forest The main setting of the story, where Leida, Diabloss and their friends live.
The High Mountains Where the mountain Gryphies live. They mine steel and metal and make armor from them. This is very useful in battle and is strong and hard wearing.
Dyarkroeen Where the Lizariaouses live. They are collectively known as a pack and they live in caves in their barren and rocky territory. Sadly Dyarkroeen is not as pretty as Shernaron. Few trees or plants grow there, just miles of rocks and caves.
The Outlands The stretch of land between both Shernaron and Dyarkroeen and is considered to be mutual territory. It is more or less a wasteland.
The Dark Plains This is the domain of the Deamon Gryphies. An incredibly dangerous place, it is forbidden to go there. Few have ever seen it.
~Terminology~
The book has a few words that have special meanings. They are as follows:
Sun Cycle - Day Moon Cycle - Night Lunar - Month Seasons - Four of them make a year Moonmare - Nightmare Grik - A nasty swear word
~Animals~
There are many other animals in the book aside from the Gryphies and Lizariaouses. These are mostly "meal creatures", animals that the two species eat.
~Sea Vulture~ These are nasty seabirds, they look vicious but they are the main prey creatures of the Gryphies. Even a Lizariaous will take one if it can catch one. They are fairly large birds but they are vastly outsized by the predators and easy enough to hunt and kill.
~Cave Cat~ Cute little wild cats who live in empty caves in Dyarkroeen. The Lizariaouses leave these caves empty intentionally to keep families of Cave Cats in them as a food source.
~Furmine~ These can talk, so Gryphies don't tend to hunt them since they don't like the idea of eating a creature that pleads for its life. Lizariaouses however, have no such problems with eating them and take fun in tormenting them before they kill them.
